Donald Trump goes off the delusional deep end as it all goes wrong for him
If Donald Trump was hoping that sending Robert Costello into the Manhattan grand jury Monday was somehow going to save him from being criminally indicted, he’s surely realizing by now that he’s fully out of options. The indictment is happening, he can’t stop it, and he’s about to venture into the undesirable position of being a defendant in the criminal justice system.
Trump isn’t taking it well. But instead of trying to find a criminal defense strategy that can actually help him at trial, Trump is relying on the same thing he’s been falling back on for two years now: delusion.
Since getting booted from office, Donald Trump has spent most of his time using social media posts to try to convince himself that he’s still relevant. The worse his real world situation becomes, the more he tries to blow smoke up his own backside. Now that Trump is being indicted, he’s clinging to the delusion that he’s somehow magically going to win the 2024 election anyway. In cartoon fashion, in fact.
Trump is now posting obviously illegitimate polls that claim he’s going to defeat Joe Biden in 2024 by as much as thirty points. No really, thirty points! Except not really, because that’s not even possible. But Trump has to cling to something, doesn’t he?
