Donald Trump goes berserk about Jack Smith cracking down on him
Earlier this week Special Counsel Jack Smith made a pretrial filing with Judge Chutkan, asking that Donald Trump not be allowed to spew conspiracy theories during the trial. Suffice it to say that Trump isn’t taking it well.
Trump posted this to social media on Thursday: “Crooked Joe Biden’s Prosecutorial Thug, Deranged Jack Smith, who is fighting viciously to damage his corrupt bosses Political Opponent, ME, much as they do in Third World Countries, wants to take away my right of Free Speech.”
Two things stand out here. First, it sure feels like Trump expects Judge Chutkan to side with Jack Smith on this. Second, and more importantly, it all serves as a reminder to Trump (and to the general public) that Trump’s criminal trial is still on track to happen fairly soon. For all the doomsday hysteria in the media, the trial is so close to happening that we’re now seeing these kinds of late stage pretrial motions from the prosecutor. Trump can’t hide and he knows it.
