Donald Trump gives away that he expects to be criminally indicted by the DOJ

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. When the mainstream media acknowledged last week that the DOJ was criminally investigating Donald Trump, it was belated to say the least. The publicly visible signs had been fairly clear for months that the DOJ was investigating Trump, and in its quest to keep milking the “DOJ is doing nothing” narrative for ratings, the media got caught with its collective pants down. Now it looks like the media may not have been the only ones.

Yesterday, Donald Trump’s criminal defense attorneys apparently decided to let it be known to the media that they’re “preparing a legal defense against criminal charges from the Justice Department.” Well okay then. It’s a little late in the game if they’re just starting to prepare now. What were they doing back when the DOJ was carrying out search and seizure warrants against Trump’s co-conspirators John Eastman and Jeffrey Clark? Was that not enough of a hint that Trump was going to need a criminal defense of his own?

Perhaps Trump’s lawyers were lulled into a false sense of security by all those months of nonsensical “DOJ is doing nothing” headlines that didn’t fit what was clearly going on. In any case, it’s notable that Trump’s lawyers appear to be leaking to the media that they’re working on a criminal defense strategy. It’s as if they’re hoping Trump will see it in print and presume that his lawyers are on top of things. But let’s be real. If you are on top of your criminal defense strategy, do you really have to tell the media about it? Sounds like more of an attempt at covering for having been late to the game.

In any case, the mere fact that Donald Trump’s lawyers are “preparing a legal defense against criminal charges from the Justice Department” is a giveaway, in almost exact words, that Trump and his lawyers expect Trump to be criminally charged. At least we’re all on the same page now.
