Donald Trump doesn’t have a clue

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

It’s impossible to tell whether Republicans decided to break with Trump out of necessity or whether some finally realized just how dangerous the man is. Either way, according to Politico, Republicans have changed their tune on international aide. These people are in office, Trump is not. They answer to their constituents, not Doanld Trump. Mike Turner (R-OH), chair of the House Intelligence Committee, has been pushing the package. Turner recently visited Kyiv and shared that they are rationing munitions and can no longer defend themselves. He was quoted by Politico: “There is no longer an issue of ‘when do we support Ukraine?’ If we do not move, this will be abandoning Ukraine.” When Turner brought up a vote, there are (not surprisingly) still Republicans whining about the southern border, which would have been helped by recent bipartisan legislation they refused to support. Mike Johnson, who played a large role in killing the bipartisan bill, needs to decide whether he’s the speaker or whether he’s Donald Trump’s mouthpiece. He can’t be both.

Trump is against anything that might however slightly make the current administration “look good.” He, who claims to love America, is constantly pushing against solutions. We know why. He didn’t come up with them, and he’s not currently in power. He’s also out in public, saying things he has no business saying. This past weekend, Trump said that if he were in power, he “would let Russia do whatever the hell they want” if NATO members weren’t paying according to guidelines. Sometimes, people don’t have the money they promised. Does that mean you kick them out? No, NATO has much stronger reasons for its existence, but when you start talking truths and policies, Trump zones out because he’s too stupid to get it. NATO was formed to ensure Russia didn’t take over the world. Together, it is the largest military bloc in history. It is an alliance that binds all members together, regardless of their ability to contribute. What he ultimately doesn’t get-or perhaps doesn’t want to get-is that if this alliance falls, Putin will take over Europe. He might not care about that since he seems so enthralled of Putin, but everyone else cares. This is yet another reason that he should never get near the White House again.

In Trump’s feeble mind, the U.S. is being “exploited,” “underappreciated,” and that the country is “in global decline” because of NATO. To withdraw from NATO would also strip our power. Perhaps he would like for Putin to take over the U.S. as well. If he’s so enamored of Putin, he should move to Russia. They probably won’t extradite him when he’s found guilty of all his crimes in absentia. “Journalists” like Tucker Carlson don’t help either by giving Putin a platform without challenging him even once. The point of that entire fiasco is unknown, but to give a positive platform to someone like Vladimir Putin is asking for trouble. Politico pointed out that part of Trump’s appeal is his “lack of presidential poise,” but those people don’t understand the ramifications of his behavior.
