Donald Trump caves as we predicted, agrees to debate Kamala Harris

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

When Donald Trump first announced that he was pulling out of the scheduled ABC News debate on September 10th with Kamala Harris, Palmer Report pointed out that this didn’t mean anything. If Trump fell behind in the polls by three points or more, he was going to have to roll the dice and try debating her.

Sure enough, now that Trump has indeed fallen behind by a few points, he held a “press conference” today to announce that he’s agreed to debate Harris. Trump spent the first several minutes of his press conference rambling incoherently in low energy fashion, insisting that he’s winning in the polls while bizarrely suggesting that Tim Walz is “heavy into the transgender world,” whatever that’s supposed to mean.

Trump was trying to put on a display of strength today, but the reality is that he caved on the debates because he’s falling behind and he has no choice. For all of the “Trump will never debate Kamala no matter what” tweets we’ve seen over the past few weeks, nothing works that way.

Trump is still up there rambling about nonsense, but he’s already caved and that’s that. The prevailing headline coming out of this “press conference” is that Trump is panicked because he knows he’s losing. Now onto the debates, where Trump will do about as poorly as he’s doing in this press conference.
