Donald Trump can’t handle the heat
Donald Trump doesn’t want to debate Kamala Harris. He’s a liar, and Harris has no qualms about pointing that out. Trump called into “Fox & Friends” to brag about himself, claiming that he had “the most successful administration from the economy standpoint,” which is laughable. After hearing Trump’s delusional claim, the Harris-Walz campaign responded: “This is a lie. Trump left office with the worst jobs record since the Great Depression. More Americans now have jobs than they ever did under Trump.” So, who’s right? Sure, it’s easy to automatically assume that Trump is lying. The Washington Post decided to look at the records.
WaPo compared the Trump and Biden administrations side by side. Here’s what they found. Before the pandemic, Trump was credited with creating 6.7 million jobs. Then, the pandemic came and wiped all that away, leaving him with a -2.7 million jobs growth record. Trump could, of course, blame it on the pandemic; however, he’s the one who allowed it to get so out of control that it caused untold damage. Biden turned things around, creating 15.7 million jobs as of July 2024. Even if the pandemic had no impact, Biden still wiped the floor up with Trump, more than doubling his numbers. He knows it, and most importantly, we know it. That’s why Kamala Harris continues to surge.
The Independent published the latest numbers, which reveal that Harris has not only surpassed the Democratic deficit, but she’s in the lead. Later, Newsweek reported that she “hit record Lead Over Trump, New Poll Shows.” She did not at all hurt herself by choosing Tim Walz, an affable, caring, normal human being who has delighted Harris supporters. He was so likeable on stage at their first rally, bowing, grasping at his heart, and beaming his genuine smile across the arena. He made sure kids in his state’s school were fed, and he kept abortion legal in the state. The latest Morning Consult shows that Harris has a 48 to 44 percent lead across the nation. The poll was taken before Welz joined the ticket, so imagine what the next poll will say. They’re doing quite well, and Republicans hate it.
Trump and his mini-me have nothing positive to say, and they can only resort to attacks. So far, they are falling flat. Former RNC chairman Michael Steele wrote that Trump’s attempts to paint Walz as a “radical liberal” won’t work. Steele wrote: “Just look at Walz’s voting record during his time in the House. It’s far from Progressive. And while some may point to his accomplishments as Minnesota governor, last time I checked, feeding kids lunch and breakfast was not a progressive or conservative policy. It’s what a governor should do for the people of his state.” Indeed, everyone should want to ensure that kids are fed. That’s how Republicans could move to being truly pro-life instead of pro-birth if they cared. Republicans are severely out of touch with what most of the American people want. They can and should stand on the sidelines come November.
