Donald Trump cancels his own 1/6 press conference, gives away how screwed he knows he is
When Donald Trump announced last month that he would be holding a press conference on the anniversary of the January 6th attack, MSNBC and CNN pundits used it as yet another opportunity to lament over the unspecified “danger” and the “damage” that it would cause. The doomsday pundits on Twitter insisted the press conference meant that Trump had won and our democracy was over.
But Palmer Report pointed out that Trump had nothing to gain from such a press conference, and plenty to lose. No major news network would carry it live, meaning he’d get no traction from it. And given his tendency to go off script, he’d likely have ended up further incriminating himself – at a time when even Trump seems to be figuring out that there is no big political comeback for him, and that at this point his life merely consists of trying to fend off prison and little more. In fact we said there was a strong chance that the press conference wouldn’t even happen.
Sure enough, Trump proved us right today by “canceling” his January 6th press conference – which means he was never going to hold one to begin with. As usual with this guy these days, it was all just a bluff, so he could watch the pundits predict doom, and watch the defeatists hide under their desks.
The sooner we acknowledge that Donald Trump is crippled and powerless, and the sooner we stop cowering to his increasingly toothless threats, the sooner he’ll be off the stage for good. This guy is so far gone, so broken, and so afraid, he can’t even pull off a press conference here in 2022. We’re supposed to believe the media’s ratings-driven hype about how he’s going to pull off a presidential run in 2024? Get real.
