Donald Trump goes berserk about Mitt Romney, gives something away in the process
Various media reports this evening are saying that Donald Trump and his White House were caught completely off guard by Mitt Romney’s vote to convict and remove Trump. If this is indeed true, then it means either Romney didn’t give them any warning over what he was about to do, or Trump didn’t believe Romney would really go through with it.
In any case, Donald Trump’s response on Twitter this evening suggests that he and his team really weren’t prepared for this moment. Instead of a rant about Mitt Romney or even an attempt at rebutting Romney’s assertions, Trump and his team merely tweeted a nonsensical minute-long video of Romney’s 2012 loss. Best we can tell, because Romney is depicted as wearing sunglasses in the video, it means he’s the… bad guy?
We’re pretty sure we’ve seen Donald Trump use this whacked out video effect before, with someone else wearing the sunglasses. Someone on social media will surely hunt it down. The point is that Trump and his people were so caught off guard, they had to resort to recycling one of their old video animations so they could post something in response.
This is odd, considering it was fairly easy to predict that Mitt Romney might vote this way, as it’ll probably help Romney more than it hurts him. We knew this was a strong possibility. Many of you saw it coming. Yet Donald Trump and his remaining White House advisers were somehow completely caught off guard by this. This gives away that they’re just that far removed from the reality – which matters heading into 2020.
