Donald Trump and the GOP are playing a deadly game
While much of the world is getting ready for the release of an effective COVID vaccine, Senate Republicans aren’t ready just yet to give up the grift. Sen. Ron Johnson, one of Trump’s staunchest lackeys, invited an anti-vaccine doctor to testify before Congress to promote hydroxychloroquine – a drug not only proven ineffective at combating coronavirus, but actually dangerous.
Dr. Jane Orient will be one of four witnesses testifying on Tuesday morning before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee headed by Johnson, where she hopes to further promote hydroxychloroquine and lift arbitrary federal restrictions on it, while using baseless claims to cast doubt on the success of a vaccine – at a time when there is already a strong element of distrust over a potential COVID vaccine.
Already, a number of doctors are speaking out against Orient and this dangerous sideshow as they should, but this is a sign of bad things to come. As Palmer Report has already warned, the Republicans aren’t cowards, because that would imply that they want to do the right thing by speaking up against Trump but are afraid to. This is the latest sign that Republicans are actively complicit in every dangerous action taken by the Trump administration – and that they’re actively working against the well-being of the American people.
This alone makes clear why Democrats need to retake the Senate in January and need to immediately begin recruiting a strong candidate who will unseat Ron Johnson when he’s up for re-election in 2022.
