Donald Trump and the Garbage Pail Kids
Donald Trump may not be rich in love, or rich in family, or even rich, but you can’t say he isn’t rich in imagination. Trump has been blessed with the gift of gab, similar to a sideshow huckster with a cane and top hat. If he says the same outlandish things loudly enough and often enough, he’s hoping you’ll just hand over the coin, sit down and shut up and be mesmerized by the show. The only problem is, if that show were to be aired, it would, let’s just say, not make it onto HBO. Let’s face it, Trump is more like Sideshow Bob than any ringleader, and the world is his crappy variety show.
Let’s pretend for a moment that Trump does not have a base made up of people who clearly did not pay attention in history class. Put that to the side for one moment and ask yourselves, who likes Trump? These days even Putin looks like he has smelled something funny when he sees Trump. Melania acts like a well-dressed hostage and his kids may be going to jail because of their dad. Currently, it appears only Rudy Giuliani is out front trumpeting his client, and even he’s not always the most present person. And let’s look at some of Trump’s underlings like Carter Page and Stephen Miller. If they were to make a pack of cards based on Trump’s advisers, you may as well make it the Garbage Pail Kids.
Just what is the point of this silly diatribe? We have a guy in the White House who is trying to gaslight America. He has blatantly threatened democracy, freedom of speech, freedom to have fair elections, and he outright told you not to listen to what you see and hear. Only listen to him, he pleads. He is the only one who can fix this, and he desperately needs you to believe him in the face of all evidence to the contrary.
Donald Trump a huckster and we have been involuntarily drafted into his sideshow. If we want to stay healthy then we have to reclaim the truth, no matter how silly it is. The publisher of the distinguished paper, The New York Times, just had to chastise Trump for using such inflammatory language against the media, cautioning Trump how detrimental that is for a healthy society. Trump has dubbed the media “The Enemy of the State.” No, Donald, the media is just an enemy to the state of your lies.
