Domestic terrorism in the light of day
Most horror films take place at night. This makes sense if one thinks about it. There is something deeply peaceful about the black-velvet night. But viewed from the right lens, it can be menacing as well. But the reality is a bit different. Many disasters and tragedies happen during the day. September 11 did. January 6 did. Terror. Just the word is evil, is it not?
And the Democrats want to do something about it. They want to do this in the form of a Domestic Terrorism Act. It is to be called “The Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act.” This bill could do so much! It would create domestic terrorism task forces in the FBI and DOJ and in Homeland Security. Do you realize how much this would HELP? How much is this bill needed?
And it has just passed the House. One would think this bill would be a piece of cake, right? Everybody would vote for it, right? Not quite. The GOP is seemingly repulsed by this bill and does not want us to initiate it. That is why the Republicans are now vowing to filibuster it. I kid you not. Just when you thought they had gone as low as they could go — they go even lower.
FBI Director Chris Wray has said how much of a problem domestic terrorism is. He has asked for help. How can we give him that help when we have an enemy from within — in one of our two Parties — dead-set against it? Josh Hawley, in particular, has been vocal about how much this bill upsets him.
You know what to do. Let everyone know about the bill. Do you even see mainstream media talking about it? I don’t. As activists, it is our job to amplify the messaging — and this bill is vital. So let’s let EVERYONE know this bill may not pass — because of the enemy within.
