DOJ cuts cooperating plea deal with Proud Boys leader – and it’s bad news for Trump world
Proud Boys leader Chris Donohoe has cut a cooperating plea deal with the DOJ, per WaPo. This means the Proud Boys are all going down. It also gives the DOJ (at least) two key cooperating witnesses against Trump world, after flipping an Oath Keepers leader earlier.
This is why Merrick Garland and his DOJ had to spend ten months flipping Capitol attackers upward before being able to go after Trump world. You need cooperating witnesses to pull it off. Now the DOJ has proof of how the Trump administration plotted with the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers.
Such deals also tend to set off chain reactions. The other Proud Boys and Oath Keepers leaders now know they’ll be convicted, so they’re now more likely to cooperate as well – including the ones who communicated directly with Trump world about 1/6.
Keep in mind the DOJ already has a confirmed cooperation deal with Roger Stone’s Oath Keeper driver. That’s a direct avenue of investigation into Trump world for 1/6. The DOJ launched its grand jury against Trump world right around the time he flipped. Likely not a coincidence.
