Donald Trump doesn’t know what’s about to hit him
Thus far today Donald Trump has lost a pivotal appeals court ruling over his tax returns, a New York grand jury has come closer to indicting him, impeachment transcripts have been released that incriminate him, and one of the Ukraine henchmen has apparently decided to flip on him. But if you really want to know why Trump is in bad shape, look no further than this.
When Donald Trump faced the cameras today, a reporter asked him about his bad and worsening poll numbers. Trump’s response: “You’re looking at the wrong polls. I have the real polls.” No really, he said this. There’s video. It’s one thing to put on a brave face and to apply the best spin possible in response to bad news. Most politicians do that for a living. But Trump sounds like he actually believes the polls are all fake, and that he’s sitting on far better poll numbers that are real.
If the Trump regime is in possession of polling data that’s good news for him, why doesn’t it release the data, or at least point us to it? Oh that’s right, it can’t, because no such data exists. But Trump just gave away that he’s seen poll numbers that are better for him than this. In other words, his babysitters are feeding him fake positive poll numbers to try to keep him from going into a total funk about how bad things are for him.
There’s no more clear sign of your impending downfall than when you’ve reached a point where you can no longer deal with the worsening news for you, and you block it all out in favor of grasping at imaginary straws that tell you you’re magically going to be okay. Donald Trump doesn’t appear to have any idea what’s even going on anymore. The news is about to get far worse for him over the next few weeks. He has no idea what’s about to hit him.
