Donald Trump desperately tries to distract from Rudy Giuliani revelation

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Earlier today we wrote that Donald Trump had strangely gone dark on Twitter, having skipped his usual early morning meltdown. Sure enough, just moments after we posted the article, suddenly Trump’s Twitter account came to life. For a moment we thought perhaps he’d seen our article and was thumbing his nose at us. Then the Rudy Giuliani news broke, and we came to understand the real reason Trump had just started tweeting like a rabid fiend.

Several major news outlets reported this evening that Donald Trump has hired Rudy Giuliani of all people for his personal legal defense team. Considering that Giuliani is one of Trump’s alleged co-conspirators, and that Giuliani hasn’t even formally practiced law in decades, this move was equal parts absurd and desperate. Now we know that, on top of it all, the news wasn’t even supposed to become public.

How do we know this? Just as the Giuliani news was being reported across the board, Trump went on a Twitter bender and hit all his favorite low notes. First Trump attacked the Democrats. Then he said something racist about sanctuary cities. Then he began attacking his two favorite targets of late, former FBI officials James Comey and Andrew McCabe, in the same tweet. In other words, Trump is now desperate to distract the media and the public from the Giuliani news. That tells us that Trump didn’t want the Giuliani hire out there, and that he was instead hoping to secretly rely on Giuliani’s legal advice and/or connections in the background.

What’s remarkable here is that Donald Trump thought he could make a move this newsworthy and ridiculous without it becoming public. Sure enough, it quickly hit the newswires anyway after Rudy ran his mouth about it, because all of Trump’s stupid evil plots end up getting leaked or dug up by someone. Despite Trump’s efforts at creating a distraction, the Giuliani news is nonetheless dominating the headlines. Nice try.
