Disastrous news for Donald Trump

As the news cycle turns with mentions of whatever Donald Trump’s latest antics have been, it’s easy to argue over what the best way to counter his moves are, but in many cases, sometimes the best move is to just stay to the script as much as possible, without turning to things like the latest idiotic thing he did. The joint address to Congress he made on Tuesday, for example, is a good example of red meat for his base, but that’s pretty much it. No one’s really going to remember it in a week or so from now, much less a year down the road – and no one who was on the fence really bothered to tune in anyway.
What is important, however, is the disappointing jobs report that was released on Wednesday, where jobs added in February were just over half of what the ADP predicted – the smallest increase since last summer, and a clear trend in the wrong direction – where the January jobs report also showed us. This is something to keep pounding over and over again – particularly as concerns of a recession start to re-emerge.
A lot of Trumpers are coming up with convoluted theories that this is all somehow the fault of President Biden – but go ahead and let them – as doing so forces them to acknowledge that the economy under Republican control isn’t thriving the way their party promised. Between the consistent poor job reports and the flailing stock market, it’s become clear that the party is terrible for the economy, among other things.
