These impeachment hearings are a disaster for Donald Trump already

Dear Palmer Report readers,

We all understand what a dark era we're heading into. Journalists will be prosecuted. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. Advertising networks can't be counted on. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight, because someone has to.

In that regard we're looking to start funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens or how dark things get. We've launched a reader supported fund, and we've already raised $3360 and counting. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can contribute here. Thank you in advance.
Sincerely,
Bill Palmer

Donald Trump has been awfully quiet since the televised House impeachment proceedings began more than three hours ago. He’s posted a few customary retweets from his sycophants, but beyond that, he’s had nothing to say. If Trump is watching this hearing and he thinks it’s going well for him, then he’s even further removed from reality than we thought.

Even as the House Democrats have been conducting themselves professionally and the State Department witnesses have come across as honest and professional, Trump’s House Republican allies have been behaving in such goon-like fashion as to leave the average nonpartisan viewer convinced that they and Trump have something to hide.

The House GOP is taking its biggest swing right now, by having outside counsel try to get Bill Taylor and George Kent to crack. But it’s going nowhere, as Taylor and Kent are holding up like pros under cross examination. The testimony that they’ve given thus far, particularly from Taylor, has been nothing short of devastating to Donald Trump.

These hearings aren’t exactly full of fireworks thus far, but that’s the point. Donald Trump’s supporters and detractors might be looking for high drama today, each for different reasons, but they’ve already made up their minds about impeachment. These televised hearings are for the benefit of average Americans who aren’t sure what to make of the Ukraine scandal, and are tuning in because they want some clarity on whether impeachment is warranted. Bill Taylor and George Kent are giving it to them – and they’re very calmly making clear that Donald Trump is as guilty as can be.
