Donald Trump just lost Dilbert creator Scott Adams
The question for awhile now has been whether Donald Trump, whose scandals and behavior continue to grow more egregious, can actually do anything to drive away his remaining supporters. His poll numbers and approval rating have been bad but steady for months. But his debate performance was so off the rails, even for him, it’s raised new questions about whether his least enthusiastic supporters might finally give up on him.
Now we’re seeing some anecdotal evidence that Trump may have indeed finally found a way to cost himself some supporters. Scott Adams, the creator of the Dilbert comic strip, has some disturbing libertarian political beliefs to put it mildly. Somewhere over the past few years, Adams found his way to being a Trump supporter. But now Adams has announced on Twitter that Trump has lost his vote, as a direct result of refusing to denounce white supremacy during or after the debate.
We’re not awarding Scott Adams any points for this. Adams isn’t some random schmuck who doesn’t pay attention to politics, and is just now shocked to find out that Trump is who his detractors have always claimed he is. Adams has known full well all along that Trump actively sides with white supremacists.
But it’s still a big deal that Scott Adams is finally dumping Donald Trump, because it suggests that Trump is still capable of losing supporters, and that his worsening behavior could cost him on election day. Of course this gives us an opportunity to really run up the score by turning out to vote, and using these final few weeks to volunteer for Joe Biden and Democratic Senate candidates. Let’s get to work and finish Trump off!
