Donald Trump’s DHS stooge Chad Wolf caught in huge scandal

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

In a sign that Donald Trump’s political cache is continuing to falter, even the Republican Senate is less willing to stick its neck out and confirm his corrupt appointees than it once was. This has resulted in Trump naming many of his top appointees on an “Acting” basis, and then hoping no one notices that he never does put them up for confirmation.

Like most of Trump’s antics, this simplistic brute-force strategy has worked in the short term but is proving to be nonviable in the longer term. One of Trump’s most corrupt “Acting” appointees is Department of Homeland Security Acting Secretary Chad Wolf, who has been behind the criminal gangs of lawless thugs who recently invaded cities like Portland. Wolf is potentially going to prison if Trump loses the election – but now it turns out Wolf may not even last that long.

The GAO has concluded that the “Acting” appointments of Chad Wolf and his sidekick Ken Cuccinelli are invalid. In other words, as of now, Wolf is no longer legally in charge of Homeland Security. We don’t expect him to simply give up and go home, of course. Like nearly all disputes in the Trump era, this is likely headed to court, where Wolf’s legitimacy will be decided.

Of course with just 81 days until the election, it’s not clear that the courts will move quickly enough to actually oust Chad Wolf. But the key is that, thanks to this scandal, Wolf will have to spend the next 81 days focusing on playing defense and trying not to lose his job. This weakens Wolf and makes it more difficult to for him to focus on his criminal antics. Political wins and losses are always decided by incremental developments, not magic wands – and this is a big incremental loss for Wolf and Trump.
