Democrats pull ahead in midterm polling

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

It’s been a bit of a hurricane for us this last year in regard to the midterms. We’ve had to endure grim-faced pundits claiming we’d already lost and, in fact, that it was our own fault. We have had pundits try and demotivate us to show up and cast our votes.

We’ve seen condescension take on a life of its own as pundits and media personalities with the wrong motivations have acted like Democrats are a group of sad, silly idiots who have no chance this November. We showed them. Didn’t we?

Of course, the narrative has now begun to shift. And, of course, it must. The Democrats have had win after win, accomplishment after accomplishment, and the hurricane has slowed down to a warm and welcome warm summer rain.

And incredible news is always welcome, and I have some. Democrats have now, for the first time this year, taken the lead in the FiveThirtyEight generic congressional polling. Now it is a slight lead to be sure, but a lead is a lead is a lead. The Democrats lead at 43.8%, with the GOP at 43.5%.

It’s time to take a moment, pat ourselves on the back, and smile. But that moment can only last a short time because we’ve got work to do! Now we must turn that ever-so-slight lead into the massive blue wall Palmer Report has been talking about.

It’s all coming together now. Anything is possible. We have great candidates for the Senate, outstanding ones for the House, a clear and unifying message, and a whole heck of a lot of enthusiasm. So let’s do this. Let’s forge a path forward and win big in November.
