House Democrats drop the hammer on Donald Trump’s money laundering

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

It’s becoming more clear by the day – and arguably by the hour – that Robert Mueller, his prosecutorial allies, and the House Democrats have a strategy for forcing Donald Trump out of office. That strategy consists of making it hurt so much for Trump, he ends up declaring bankruptcy on his presidency by negotiating his resignation. Now the House Democrats are busting out yet another way of putting the screws to Trump.

This week it’s become clear that Donald Trump will be indicted and arrested the minute his presidency is over, and at least one of his kids will be arrested while he’s still in office, if he doesn’t negotiate his ouster. Everyone from the CFO of the Trump Organization, to the National Enquirer, has sold him and his kids out. But even as prosecutors follow the money from within Trump’s books, House Democrats say they’re following the money from the outside.

Democratic Congresswoman Jackie Speier sits on the House Intelligence Committee. She revealed today on Twitter that once the Democrats take control of the committee in early January, with Adam Schiff as the new Chairman, they’re going to pursue Donald Trump’s money laundering around the world. Speier cited three hotspots in particular: Trump Soho in Manhattan, something in Toronto, and something in Panama. Why are these three important?

Trump Soho was the shady real estate project which saw the Trump Organization partnering with convicted Russian mafia money launderer Felix Sater; that deal was reportedly negotiated by Donald Trump Jr and Ivanka Trump. The Panama investigation is likely a reference to the Panama Papers, or to Trump’s bitter dispute with the owners of a Trump branded property in the country, or both. But “Toronto” may end up being the most intriguing of the three.

The Toronto investigation is almost certainly in reference to Donald Trump’s ill-fated hotel in the city. As Palmer Report explained a year and a half ago, that hotel was financed by a Russian government-controlled bank, and it was personally signed off on by Vladimir Putin. Robert Mueller has surely already investigated all of these matters, and he’ll reveal his findings just in time for House Democrats to hold public hearings exposing the evidence. If Trump doesn’t resign very soon, he’s going to be torn to pieces.
