Donald Trump defies the laws of physics and somehow finds a way to sink to a whole new low

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

If you wanted to give Donald Trump the benefit of the doubt, you could try to make the (rather weak) argument that while he’s purposely used violent rhetoric for political gain, he didn’t expect his crazed supporters to actually carry out this level of violence in his name. But even if you were naive enough to think that he might be that naive, Trump just made it a whole lot easier for you.

Set aside, for a moment, the fact that Donald Trump’s false accusations and calls for violence absolutely did inspire Cesar Sayoc to send bombs to fourteen prominent Democratic political figures. Even if you leave that out of the equation, Trump – both as the “President” and as the object of this bomber’s affection – had a responsibility to distance himself from this freak. Instead he did the opposite.

Donald Trump should have had his proverbial “come to Jesus” moment tonight when he learned that it was indeed one of his own supporters who tried to murder Barack and Michelle Obama, Hillary and Bill Clinton, and so many others. Instead Trump had something closer to a “come to Satan” moment. He flew to a political rally and ranted about “Crooked Hillary” and fanned the flames of a crazed mob who chanted “Lock her up.”

When people on the left say that Donald Trump belongs in prison, they’re referring to the dozens of actual felonies he’s committed, from conspiring with the Russians, to obstruction of justice, to real estate fraud, to money laundering on down. These are actual crimes that he’s currently under investigation for, and likely to eventually be indicted for. But when Donald Trump calls for Hillary Clinton to be locked up, he simply wants his political adversary to be jailed, despite the fact that she doesn’t stand accused of any crimes. How much lower can Trump go? We’re about to find out.
