Donald Trump finds a whole new way to go off the deep end
Donald Trump may have had a rare good day for himself when he managed to get unstable maniac and alleged serial sexual predator Brett Kavanaugh onto the Supreme Court. But today was not a good day for Trump. His UN Ambassador Nikki Haley abruptly resigned amid scandal, a sign of weakness for the administration just before the midterm elections. So what’s Trump doing about it? Holding a deranged rally tonight, of course, and finding a whole new way to go off the deep end.
Remember back when Donald Trump’s adviser Michael Flynn spent the election leading the chant of “Lock Her Up” about Hillary Clinton? Since that time, Flynn has pleaded guilty and agreed to go to prison. So have several other senior Trump advisers. For the record, Hillary never did go to prison. But now Trump is trying out a new version of the “Lock Her Up” chant – and he’s aiming it a new target.
Trump spent his rally tonight insisting that Dianne Feinstein, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, be thrown in prison for having helped Dr. Christine Blasey Ford to come forward with sexual assault accusations against Brett Kavanaugh. Spoiler alert: Feinstein isn’t going to prison, just like Hillary didn’t go to prison. But this does reveal that Trump and his base are now indulging in a new fantasy about locking up a strong woman who’s done nothing wrong. In other words, they’re focused on magical solutions instead of seriously trying to win next month’s elections.
This creates an opportunity for the Resistance to dive in and make a concerted effort to put Democratic candidates over the top in key House and Senate races. If the Democrats can take control of either house of Congress, they’ll gain subpoena power in every committee, and they’ll immediately begin blowing Trump’s numerous scandals wide open.
