Donald Trump goes completely off deep end after 25th Amendment op-ed comes from his own administration

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

This evening an unnamed senior member of the Donald Trump administration published an op-ed in the New York Times which revealed that Trump’s own handpicked cabinet has considered invoking the 25th Amendment against him, because – to sum up a long piece in a few words – he’s dangerously insane. No one would have expected Trump, or anyone in his position, to take such news particularly well. But Trump went so far off the deep end, he ended up proving the op-ed author’s point.

First Donald Trump posted a rambling video clip in which he predicted that the New York Times will go out of business, called the op-ed author a coward, and insisted that he’ll win reelection in 2020 in a blowout. Then a half hour later, Trump simply tweeted “TREASON?” This set off a number of humorous responses, as various commenters pointed out that Trump did indeed commit treason by conspiring with Russia to rig the election. But then Trump started making demands.

Here’s what Trump tweeted about an hour and a half after the “TREASON” outburst: “Does the so-called “Senior Administration Official” really exist, or is it just the Failing New York Times with another phony source? If the GUTLESS anonymous person does indeed exist, the Times must, for National Security purposes, turn him/her over to government at once!” The trouble of course is that Trump doesn’t understand what the Constitution is.

Whether or not you agree with the Trump cabinet’s idea of invoking the 25th Amendment, the reality is that it would be a perfectly constitutional move, as the 25th Amendment is literally part of the Constitution. If the cabinet did make such a move and Donald Trump disagreed with it, the 25th allows him to take his grievance to Congress, which would then have to vote on whether to reinstate him. But the idea that there’s something illegal about the cabinet kicking around the 25th? Trump is completely out to lunch on this.
