Dean Phillips crashes and burns
I haven’t written much about Dean Phillips’ 2024 campaign for President, because there really hasn’t been much to say. He has literally zero chance of winning the Democratic Party nomination. And he’s not going to impact the outcome of the election. He’s running because of ego, or insanity, or because he’s trying to set himself up for some other venture after his campaign is over.
But it’s worth noting that even as Rep. Dean Phillips goes nowhere as a presidential candidate, things are going straight south for him back in Congress. He’s already announced that he won’t seek reelection. Now it turns out he’s getting a serious cold shoulder from his fellow House Democrats whenever he encounters them.
This just goes to show that no one is buying what Dean Phillips is selling. He can make all the arguments he wants about how he’s supposedly a more viable 2024 candidate than President Joe Biden. But out of two hundred-plus House Democrats, there appear to be zero who agree with Phillips. He’s being unanimously shunned by the people who know him best. That alone is a sign that he should end his humiliating “campaign” sooner rather than later.
