On deadline day, Donald Trump has berserk meltdown about Robert Mueller
Welcome to deadline day. Ten days ago, Special Counsel Robert Mueller told the judge in the Paul Manafort case that within ten days, he would be able to make a major reveal about how Manafort has been helping him in the Trump-Russia scandal. That means today is the day, and Mueller will either end up indicting/arresting people before the end of the day, or he’ll have to explain the delay to the judge. Donald Trump seems to understand what’s at stake today, and he’s melting down accordingly.
Donald Trump is spending the morning ranting about Robert Mueller’s upcoming final report, and trying to preemptively spin the damning findings which will criminally connect Trump and his campaign to the Russian government and Russian hackers. Trump seems to know just how bad it’s going to be for him, and he’s resorting to a particularly bizarre new defense strategy.
Here’s the key part of what Trump spat out this morning: “Will [Mueller] be putting in statements from hundreds of people closely involved with my campaign who never met, saw or spoke to a Russian during this period? So many campaign workers, people inside from the beginning, ask me why they have not been called (they want to be). There was NO Collusion & Mueller knows it!”
Wait a minute here, Donald Trump’s defense is now that some people in his campaign didn’t criminally collude with Russia? That’s the new goalpost? Robert Mueller has to prove that every last Trump campaign worker was up late at night chatting with Vladimir Putin? Nice try. Trump just gave away how bad he knows this is going to be for him.
