Donald Trump crashes and burns during David Muir interview
If Donald Trump thought he was going to get a bunch of glowing softball questions when he did a virtual town hall with Fox News viewers over the weekend, he instead got hit with a number of serious and tough questions about the coronavirus crisis – and he wasn’t remotely prepared to answer them. Now Trump has decided to sit down with David Muir of ABC News, and it’s going even more poorly for him.
David Muir did little to challenge Donald Trump on his lies and non-answers. But Trump’s answers alone were bad enough to be self inflicting. When Muir asked Trump to say something to the families of those who have died in the crisis, Trump mostly babbled about the economy. He also suggested that he’s the biggest victim in this crisis. When Trump was asked why he didn’t restock the nation’s medical supplies during his first three years in office, he blamed impeachment.
Donald Trump’s answers in this interview were almost stunningly tone-deaf, to the point of suggesting two things. First, Trump is so sociopathic, he’s unable to even figure out how to pretend to be showing empathy. Second, Trump has become senile enough that even though his handlers have clearly loaded him up with a number of stock answers, he can’t even figure out which questions those answers are supposed to match up with.
