The real reason the El Paso Walmart shooting is Donald Trump’s fault

Dear Palmer Report readers,

We all understand what a dark era we're heading into. Journalists will be prosecuted. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. Advertising networks can't be counted on. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight, because someone has to.

In that regard we're looking to start funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens or how dark things get. We've launched a reader supported fund, and we've already raised $2097 and counting. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can contribute here. Thank you in advance.
Sincerely,
Bill Palmer

Donald Trump began the day retweeting the rhetoric of a notorious white supremacist, as part of his ongoing effort to enrage unstable white people who are looking for a group of other people to take out their frustrations on. Trump ended the day by offering his “thoughts and prayers” after a white supremacist, who had filled his own social media pages with Trump-like white nationalist rhetoric, shot up an El Paso Walmart.

You’d better believe this shooting is Donald Trump’s fault. He’s spent years pushing white nationalism, anti-immigrant rhetoric, and deranged hatred on the most dangerous of bottom-feeding voters he could find. Every time he finds a new way to screw up the presidency, he tries to distract everyone from it by going on yet another racist tirade.

This week Donald Trump spent days posting horrible racist things about Congressman Elijah Cummings and the city of Baltimore, and then sarcastically tweeted “Too bad!” when it was reported that Cummings’ home in Baltimore had been broken into. Trump was making clear that he thought this kind of criminal behavior against a nonwhite person like Cummings was just great.

Donald Trump might as well have tweeted “Hey everyone, go commit more crimes against people who aren’t white!” Sure enough, at least one of his lunatic white supremacist supporters heard him loudly and clearly. Trump might as well have pulled the trigger himself in El Paso. Not only should Trump be impeached, he should be criminally charged for his role in the shooting. Free speech does not extend to specific calls to violence, and Trump should go to prison for this.
