Dangerous Liaisons
The film “Dangerous Liaisons” is a 1988 drama adapted from a screenplay based on the 1985 play and french novel “Les Liaisons dangereuses.” The film was extraordinary, and if you have not viewed it, I recommend you do. I was reminded of Dangerous Liaisons today as I heard about Donald Trump’s latest scandal — it seems every day there is a new one. And this one concerns the “empty folders” marked “classified.”
The Federal Judge in the case had released a more detailed inventory of what the FBI seized. And things have grown even more ominous for Donald Trump. That is because there were empty folders. There were empty folders with nothing inside. WHERE did the contents go?
Into whose arms did they find themselves? And that is why the film popped into my head. You see, the darkest and scariest part of all this is Trump’s dangerous Liaisons — if there were any.
We don’t know that there were. But everybody’s worried. Glenn Kirschner had this to say: “OMG! Court just released an inventory of evidence of crime seized at Mar-a-Lago. Dozens of EMPTY folders labeled classified or return to military aide. Trump didn’t pack up EMPTY folders to take with him to FLA. Things just went from bad to worse to unfathomably dangerous.”
That’s what I’m thinking as well. Look, we don’t yet know what Trump did with the documents. But what if he DID liaise with our enemies? What if some of the documents DID wind up in enemy hands?
It is a horror show. It is Donald Trump’s horror show. There are not many now who doubt an indictment is upcoming. How could it not be? And it seems every day things get a bit worse for the insurrectionist. What did Trump do with these documents? Were any seen by our enemies?
We will get the answers to all these questions. If Trump did liaise with people he shouldn’t have, it will all come out. Donald Trump an insurrectionist, traitor, and enemy of the people.
