On verge of plea deal, Michael Cohen posts cryptic message

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump’s longtime fixer Michael Cohen has spent the past two weeks hinting that he’s preparing to flip on Trump. Cohen has severed his joint legal defense with Trump. He’s resigned from the RNC. He’s been telling his family and friends that he intends to flip, and they’ve been repeating it to the media. He’s told the media that his loyalty is to his family, which wants him to flip. Now on the Fourth of July, on the verge of a plea deal, Cohen is posting a cryptic message.

Let’s be clear here. Michael Cohen rarely tweets anything. He’s not the type to post something on Twitter simply because it’s a holiday, or because he hasn’t tweeted anything in awhile. He makes every one of his rare tweets count. Today he posted a giant American flag along with “Happy Fourth of July to all!” Coming from anyone else, under most other circumstances, this wouldn’t tell us anything. But within the context of another recent Cohen tweet, it may be decipherable.

Cohen is believed to be facing imminent criminal charges, from the U.S. Attorney’s office for the Southern District of New York, on a number of financial and white collar matters. If Special Counsel Robert Mueller hits him with criminal charges for his role in the Trump-Russia scandal, it’s believed that’ll come later. But here’s what Cohen tweeted just days ago: “My family & I are owed an apology. After 2 years, 15 hours of testimony before House & Senate under oath & producing more than 1000 documents, dossier misreports 15 allegations about me. My entire statement must be quoted- I had nothing to do with Russian collusion or meddling!”

In other words, Michael Cohen isn’t focused on publicly defending himself against the white collar criminal charges he’s on the verge of being arrested for. Instead, he’s only worried about convincing the public that he’s not a traitor. Now he’s employing his rarely-used Twitter account to push a patriotic message on Independence Day. Interpret it however you will – but Cohen is continuing to try to tell us something. So we keep counting the days until he gets his act together. Happy Fourth of July.
