The Omarosa feud just escalated into criminal scandal for Donald Trump
Donald Trump has spent the past two days viciously and obsessively ranting about Omarosa, his former White House senior adviser, who was previously best known for being a mischievous contestant on the Apprentice. In her new book she’s accused him of being everything from a doofus to a racist. She’s also begun releasing secret recordings she made of Trump and other White House officials, and it’s clearly gotten under Trump’s skin. But this just turned into something much more than feud.
Omarosa appeared on MSNBC today and announced that she’s been interviewed by Special Counsel Robert Mueller. She went on to claim that Donald Trump knew about the Russians having stolen Democratic National Committee emails before they were released publicly. Considering Omarosa’s penchant for secretly recording Trump, the question now is whether she caught Trump saying something to this effect on tape, and whether she turned over any such tape to Mueller.
Omarosa has a history of deceit dating back to the Apprentice, but the tapes she’s released thus far have served to substantiate key claims she’s made in her book. So this may well be the real deal when it comes to Donald Trump having known about the Russian hackers targeting the DNC. In any case, don’t get your hopes up about her imminently releasing such a tape; if it does exist, it’s evidence in a criminal investigation, and she would need to keep it under wraps while Mueller uses it as evidence in that case.
That said, two things are clear. First, Omarosa has secretly recorded multiple White House conversations, and you can expect her to keep publicly releasing the controversial and embarrassing ones, if not the criminal ones, as the week goes on. Second, based on his explosive reaction, Donald Trump is very much worried about what else Omarosa might have on tape.
