Donald Trump is already turning his El Paso visit into a total crap fest

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump is heading to El Paso today, the site of a white supremacist mass shooting that his own rhetoric inspired. No one seems to want Trump there, from the reluctant loyal mayor, to the congresswoman representing the district. Now we’re already seeing signs that Trump’s visit will be a total crap fest.

Beto O’Rourke announced that he’ll be holding a counter-event in El Paso for those who want to talk about overcoming gun violence and white supremacy, instead of listening to Donald Trump ramble incoherently. Naturally, Trump couldn’t let this go.

At around midnight eastern time last night, Trump posted this absurd, dishonest, and wholly inappropriate tweet: “Beto (phony name to indicate Hispanic heritage) O’Rourke, who is embarrassed by my last visit to the Great State of Texas, where I trounced him, and is now even more embarrassed by polling at 1% in the Democrat Primary, should respect the victims & law enforcement – & be quiet!”

What’s surreal here is that Donald Trump is taking credit for Ted Cruz’s narrow victory over Beto O’Rourke in the 2018 Senate race, in which Cruz underperformed in the red state of Texas. Beto – who has been going by that name since his youth – has spent the week calling out Trump and the media in an impassioned manner. The question now is whether Trump keeps attacking Beto tomorrow while Trump is supposed to be acting presidential.
