Donald Trump goes completely berserk as his most deranged conspiracy theory falls apart in real time
Donald Trump spent a long time very publicly betting most of his remaining chips on the notion that the Department of Justice Inspector General was going to announce that the FBI maliciously targeted the Trump 2016 campaign. It’s not clear why Trump thought this would somehow win him additional voters in 2020. But we’ll never know, because the DOJ IG has instead announced that the FBI was entirely justified in investigating Trump’s criminal enterprise of a 2016 campaign.
Trump responded to this bodyblow by simply insisting that the IG report did find he was maliciously targeted. Trump seems so assured that this lie is true, it’s enough to make you wonder if perhaps his babysitters did in fact tell him that the IG report is in his favor. One of Trump’s most mentally unstable babysitters, Lindsey Graham, put on a sham hearing today for the apparent sole purpose of trying to make Trump feel better. Trump must not have liked what he saw on TV, however, because he spent the entire time going berserk on Twitter.
During the course of today’s Senate Judiciary Committee hearing with IG Horowitz, Donald Trump has frantically posted dozens of tweets and retweets aimed at creating an imaginary version of the IG report. Trump is resorting to quoting discredited punchlines like Geraldo Rivera, while also retweeting some guy named Buck Sexton six times in a row. Buck Sexton? Sounds like a rejected character name from Battlestar Galactica.
Donald Trump is insisting that “They spied on my campaign!” – even now that an Inspector General investigation that he ordered has found that this absolutely did not happen. Trump is claiming that cable news networks aren’t airing today’s hearings when they are in fact airing today’s hearings. Trump couldn’t be any further removed from what’s actually happening, but his sheer desperation suggests that he now instinctively understands that the IG report is a disaster for him.
