Confused Donald Trump truly doesn’t seem to know who he’s running against
Back when Donald Trump was running against President Joe Biden in the 2024 race, Trump kept getting Biden confused with former President Barack Obama. Even then, Trump didn’t seem to know who he was running against. Nor could he tell Nancy Pelosi apart from Nikki Haley, and so on.
Now that Trump is running against Vice President Kamala Harris, it’s created even more confusion for Trump. Not only is Trump utterly confused at how he’s losing, he also appears to still be confused about who he’s running against.
Trump just posted a new ad on social media, and it’s all about how he’s better than President Biden. Oops. How does that even happen? Some might suggest that Trump is doing this because voters connect Biden and Harris in their minds, so campaigning against Biden is as effective as campaigning against Harris. But it really doesn’t work that way. We just saw that with new polling data that reveals voters think Harris would be way better for the economy than Biden has been. Why? Who knows? A lot of voters are dumb. But the point is that you can’t campaign against someone other than your opponent and expect it to translate.
Yet here we have Donald Trump running a new ad against President Biden, even as he’s shown time and again that he’s too cognitively impaired to be able to keep people apart. Maybe he forgot and really does think he’s still running against Biden. The real question is how the people around Trump could let this happen. They know they’re babysitting a senile candidate, yet they’re not bothering to watch for these kinds of slip-ups? Trump’s campaign is as out to lunch as he is.
