Confused Donald Trump doesn’t appear to know who’s on trial

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump has had an all time senile past few days, with one mentally incompetent remark after another. Then he decided to attend his New York civil fraud trial on Tuesday in order to witness Michael Cohen’s testimony. Trump tried to make a show of it, but… it didn’t happen.

Trump was visibly rattled by Cohen’s testimony, to the point that his attorneys kept having to coddle him. Even worse for Trump, when he tried to spin the whole thing for the cameras outside the courtroom, he gave away that he was confused about who was even on trial.

Trump declared that Michael Cohen is “trying to get a better deal for himself.” That would be interesting, if Cohen were currently facing any criminal charges. In reality Cohen pleaded guilty more than five years ago, went to prison, has since been released from prison, and is only testifying in this trial because it’s his civic duty as witness.

Given that Kenneth Chesebro, Sidney Powell, and Jenna Ellis have all flipped on Trump in the past week, and Mark Meadows testified against Trump under immunity, it appears that Trump’s handlers fed him the “trying to get a better deal” line to use against one of them. But a witless Trump ended up thinking that it was Cohen who was cutting a deal against him. In fairness, with this many people testifying against Trump, it can’t be the easiest thing to keep track of.
