Donald Trump goes berserk after Andrew Gillum and Bill Nelson climb back into contention in Florida
Now that the updated vote totals in Florida are close enough to trigger automatic recounts in the race for Governor and Senator, the Republicans who thought they had “won” these races aren’t taking it well. Rick Scott, the Republican nominee for Senator, is trying to misuse his position as outgoing Governor to tamper with the vote counting in both races in Broward County before a recount can even happen. Donald Trump isn’t taking it well either.
Trump is claiming, without any evidence at all, that there is “fraud” going on in the vote counting Broward County. He also posted this rather bizarre tweet: “Mayor Gillum conceded on Election Day and now Broward County has put him “back into play.” Bill Nelson conceded Election – now he’s back in play!? This is an embarrassment to our Country and to Democracy!” To be clear, Nelson never conceded, and Gillum’s concession carried no legal weight. But it gets stranger.
Donald Trump also posted this tweet, which is so bizarre, we had to double check to make sure it wasn’t coming from a Trump parody account: “Let’s blame the Russians and demand an immediate apology from President Putin!” Really? Just as Special Counsel Robert Mueller is about to unleash proof that Trump and his campaign criminally conspired with Russia to rig the 2016 election, Trump is now making sarcastic jokes about it.
After that, Trump started bragging about the size of his own (supposed) victory in 2016. It appears he’s incapable of taking this matter seriously, and he thinks that he can simply tweet Rick Scott and Ron DeSantis into being named the winners of the 2018 election. But that’s not how anything works, and Andrew Gillum and Bill Nelson now have a real shot at being named the rightful winners in Florida.
