Donald Trump goes completely berserk and no one can even figure out what he’s talking about

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. Now that Donald Trump’s “unmasking” scandal has predictably fallen apart, he’s moving on to his next ludicrous distraction. Trump has decided tonight that incoherently ranting about China and Joe Biden is somehow going to help his sinking poll numbers and worsening election prospects.

The trouble for Trump is twofold. First, no matter what stunt he tries, his poll numbers just keep getting worse. After all, the public isn’t looking for antics and noise, it’s looking for competence during a crisis – and he doesn’t have any of that to offer. Second, with each passing day, Trump has even less of a grip on what he’s trying to talk about. The result is that Trump ended up tweeting whatever this is supposed to be:

Spokesman speaks stupidly on behalf of China, trying desperately to deflect the pain and carnage that their country spread throughout the world. Its disinformation and propaganda attack on the United States and Europe is a disgrace. It all comes from the top. They could have easily stopped the plague, but they didn’t!

What’s notable in this semi-incoherent screed is that Donald Trump now appears to be trying to pick a fight directly with Chinese President Xi, a guy he’s long claimed to have a friendship with. Of course Trump is deeply in debt to a Chinese government-controlled bank as part of his failing real estate empire, so Trump has generally tiptoed around his feuds with China. But Trump is desperate, so maybe he really is going after Xi this time. Considering the personal leverage that Xi has over him, that would be a mistake.
