On a day when Julie Swetnick has come forward as the third woman to accuse Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault, this time in an allegation involving drugging women so they could be gang raped, it would be difficult to imagine that things could take an even uglier turn. But that’s what is about to happen, because Donald Trump is just moments away from holding what could end up being the most deranged presidential press conference in history.

Trump has called a press conference for 5pm eastern time today. By all accounts, White House correspondents are already being assembled in anticipation of it, so it sounds like Trump really is going to go through with this. We already know that most of the questions will be about the mounting sexual assault allegations against Brett Kavanaugh, and tomorrow’s scheduled testimony from his first accuser Dr. Christine Blasey Ford. We also have a sense of what Trump’s answers will be.

In his tweets and on-camera remarks over the past day or two, Trump has repeatedly used the phrase “con game” while insisting that the Democrats have somehow managed to engineer these accusations. This afternoon Trump launched a deranged Twitter attack against Michael Avenatti, the attorney representing Julie Swetnick. This is personal for Trump, because Avenatti has already led the charge in pushing Trump’s longtime fixer Michael Cohen into pleading guilty and flipping on him.

So we’re probably about to see something utterly hideous play out on national television. The “President” of the United States, who displays mentally unstable behavior to the point of derangement on a calm day, is about to viciously attack three women for daring to come forward with credible accusations of sexual assault against a federal judge. Tune in, if you can stomach it.
