Whenever Donald Trump yells that there was “no collusion” between his campaign and Russia, he’s lying. Everyone from Donald Trump Jr to Jared Kushner to Jeff Sessions to Paul Manafort communicated with various Russian government representatives about trying to alter the outcome of the election. He’s also using the wrong vocabulary, as “collusion” isn’t a legal term; the Trump campaign illegally and treasonously conspired with Russia. Now Trump’s “collusion” nightmare is getting worse.

Three days after Robert Mueller began indicting the Russians who conspired to rig the election in Trump’s favor, the #TrumpColluded hashtag has taken over Twitter. As of this moment it’s the most popular trending political topic, and the third most popular trending topic overall. It’s a direct pushback against Trump’s latest “No collusion” tweet in response to the indictments. It’s also a reminder of just how few people believe his denials anymore, and how thoroughly it’s expected that Trump himself will be proven to have conspired with the Russians.

Meanwhile Trump is tweeting dishonest trash talk like this: “Obama was President up to, and beyond, the 2016 Election. So why didn’t he do something about Russian meddling?” Wait, so it’s President Obama’s fault because he wasn’t able to stop the Trump campaign from conspiring with the Russians to rig the election? Isn’t that like the arsonist blaming the fire on the firefighters because they couldn’t put out the fire quickly enough?

Donald Trump has gone from claiming that there was no campaign communication with Russia, to admitting there was communication with Russia but insisting there was no Russian meddling, to now admitting there was Russian meddling but insisting there was no collusion. Next he’ll be admitting there was collusion claiming it doesn’t count because it happened on a Tuesday, or something. We’re getting closer to the real truth, and he’s getting closer to the edge.
