Michael Cohen just nailed Donald Trump for Trump-Russia treason
As far as anyone knows, Michael Cohen still has yet to formally cut a plea deal against Donald Trump. Instead, Cohen keeps feeding key pieces of the puzzle to the media, in an apparent effort at destroying Trump in real time. Yesterday he leaked a tape of an incriminating conversation he’d had with Trump. Now, in a stunning development, Cohen is nailing Donald Trump for colluding with the Russians during the election.
Michael Cohen now says that he was in the room when Donald Trump was informed that Donald Trump Jr was planning to meet with Russian government representatives in an effort at getting dirt on Hillary Clinton, and that he heard Trump greenlight the meeting, according to an on-air CNN report. Logically speaking, it’s been fairly clear all along that Trump knew about the meeting in advance, but it was never clear where the proof might come from. Now Cohen says that not only did he witness it, several others were in the room at the time as well. This changes everything.
This means that Donald Trump personally made the decision to conspire with the Russian government in an effort at altering the outcome of the election. It means Trump illegally tried to receive stolen goods, and that Trump illegally tried to receive a foreign gift of value to his election. It also means, of course, that Trump committed treason. He’s not the only one.
This helps cement that Donald Trump Jr didn’t merely meet with the Russian government of his own volition separate from his father’s campaign, but instead that he officially met with the Kremlin on behalf of the campaign. This means he was violating election laws as well. It also means Junior committed perjury when he told Congress under oath that Donald Trump didn’t know about the meeting. CNN says that Michael Cohen is willing to testify about all of this to Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who is building the criminal case against Donald Trump and Donald Trump Jr.
