CNN crashes and burns

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

They wanted to be the golden goose. Instead, they’re more like lame ducks. Once again, the news is out regarding the changes at CNN. And it’s not good. CNN this morning made its debut on November 1, 2022. It was to be the hottest show on morning TV, and there were high hopes that it would be the new “Morning Joe.”

Not quite. Instead, CNN this morning has the dubious distinction of being the network’s worst-rated show in over a decade. That is not exactly good news for the ailing network.

This situation has become rather embarrassing. Every day there are reports of the morning hosts not getting along. And whether any of that is true or not, it reflects badly on the brand.

CNN is no longer in the business of reporting news- they’re making it. The scandals haven’t stopped, and every week, there are whispers of a new host on the verge of being signed to the 9:00 PM slot. We’ve heard about comedians and other newscasters and even athletes.

Yet none of them have signed on the dotted line. The 9:00 PM chair remains ominously empty. This does not appear to phase Licht, who, when last heard from, emphatically went off on liberals for their tirades against him. When asked a question about his most significant accomplishment since arriving at the network, Licht said it was too soon to tell.

Too soon? How long IS one considered new anyway? Licht has undoubtedly caused many at CNN to be FORMER employees as he has upended the network, firing people right and left, moving some into different positions, and astonishingly even moving then moving some back.

Many are aching to chime in, and offer Licht some viewer advice about what they want to see. Only they can’t. Licht deleted his Twitter account, insisting Twitter was not real life. So, folks have few places to reach him. Licht even managed to screw up the New Year’s Eve party on CNN by refusing to let any anchors have alcohol and giving them juice bags instead.

So what will happen I don’t know, but I do not see anything good happening just based on Licht’s past behavior. He doesn’t move with any sense of urgency, and considering the network is falling apart, that’s yet another wrong move.
