Clown prince Steve Bannon is finally circling the bowl

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. There’s long been a mythos (on the left and right) about Steve Bannon being a kingmaker, a master manipulator, three steps ahead of everyone. The only difference is that the right has seen Bannon’s supposed genius as a good thing, while the left has fretted over how “dangerously powerful” Bannon is.

But in the real world, the actual Steve Bannon has never matched up with how he was advertised. He’s had a long history of royally blowing it, then rebounding a bit (mainly by goading the media into talking about how dangerously powerful he is), then finding a new way to blow it.

This is guy who got fired from the Trump White House, lost his billionaire backers, lost control of Breitbart, lost his new billionaire backers, idiotically got criminally indicted for contempt of Congress even as most others were finding a way to narrowly avoid contempt indictments, got sentenced to prison, and is still trying to avoid starting that prison sentence while awaiting trial on far more serious criminal charges that wil put him in prison for several years. Does that sound like someone who’s winning?

But we keep hearing that each ugly blow taken by Bannon somehow makes him all the more dangerously powerful. These days he’s portrayed as if he’s the evil version of Obi-Wan Kenobi. It’s almost hilarious in a way. Now Bannon is taking even more blows which make clear that he’s toast even before he gets to prison.

For about five minutes Steve Bannon was palling around with Marjorie Taylor Greene, but now even she’s reportedly decided to jump from his sinking ship. So now Bannon is reportedly palling around with… George Santos. The biggest joke in Congress. The guy who was just indicted on thirteen felony counts.

What are Steve Bannon and George Santos cooking up? Who gives a damn. These two losers at the end of their rope, both pariahs even within far right ranks, both criminally indicted on serious felonies, both headed to prison. There’s nothing these two buffoons can conjure up that’s going to magically save either of them.

Of course George Santos has rightly been seen as a hapless buffoon for as long as he’s been in politics. No one’s surprised it’s all falling apart for him. But because the media (on the left and right) has made a point of building Steve Bannon back up each time he’s fallen into a sinkhole of his own making, the public largely has yet to figure out that Steve Bannon has always been George Santos. They’re the exact same buffoon. The fact that Bannon is now reduced to allying himself with Santos is proof that Bannon really is circling the bowl.
