Weeks ago, Donald Trump began publicly distancing himself from Rudy Giuliani. It was easy enough to understand why, as the bumbling Rudy had outlived his usefulness as a henchman and will soon be arrested. Then Rudy took an absurd, pointless, and highly self-incriminating trip to Ukraine which will help ensure that he’s hit with even more criminal charges when he’s arrested.

Now we know why Rudy Giuliani took the trip, if it wasn’t clear enough already: it’s gotten him – if only briefly – back in Donald Trump’s good graces. As soon as Rudy got back from his Ukraine trip, Trump called him while he was still on the runway to ask what kind of trouble he’d managed to cause, according to Katie Phang of NBC News. Trump must have liked what he heard, because he hosted Rudy at the White House today, according to NBC’s Peter Alexander.

That’s right, on the day the House Judiciary Committee voted to approve articles of impeachment against Donald Trump, he spent the day hunkered down with Rudy Giuliani, going over the imaginary evidence that Rudy thinks he uncovered in Ukraine. It’s important to keep in mind that these men are both so lost in a haze of conspiracy theories as to be mentally incompetent, and are both fighting off early to mid stages of cognitive collapse. Neither one of them has any connection to reality at this point.

At this point there’s little doubt that whatever Rudy Giuliani “learned” during his Ukraine trip was nothing more than hallucinatory gibberish. He’s headed straight off a cliff with this nonsense. Now it’s clear that Donald Trump is going to follow Rudy off a cliff, at least this one more time around. When that doesn’t get him anywhere, that’s right around the time Rudy will be arrested. Rudy will then beg for a pardon, just as Trump is fuming over the failure of Rudy’s latest incoherent scheme. These two treasonous stooges deserve each other.
