Chuck Schumer just took a big swing
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer just confirmed that he won’t give the Senate a quorum for the Amy Coney Barrett vote. This strategy may work and it may not. If it fails, there are other things he can try. We’ll see. But I don’t want to hear this whining about how Schumer and Senate Democrats aren’t trying to win this battle. They very much are. The biggest thing standing in Senate Democrats’ way right now is the people on our side who are whining instead of fighting.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is going on TV and arrogantly cackling about his past victories because he wants us to think Barrett’s confirmation is a done deal. It is not a done deal. He does’t know how it ‘s going to turn out; there are way too many variables at play, particularly with regard to the fluctuating Senate reelection races, and the moves that vulnerable GOP Senators might ultimately make as their poll numbers shift.
This battle is just getting started this week. Are you going to let McConnell trick you into not fighting, or are you going to fight? The time is now for us to lay it all on the line.
