Cheap trick
Ah—signs. Portents. They’re all around us if we look hard enough. One of those signs just revealed itself at the GOP convention. This was not an article I expected to write. I had a different article I was working on. But in the crazy merry-go-round of politics, SOMETIMES, as you know, anything can and does happen.
Mike Johnson, The house “speaker”, was speaking piously—or trying to. You see, the teleprompter malfunctioned. Those damn teleprompters! Constantly breaking at the WRONG times. So, the GOP had to move quickly and fill some time. So the band began to play. They played many a song while people worked feverishly to fix the broken equipment.
But one song the band did an extended riff on. And wouldn’t you know it– they chose the hit song “I want you to want me.” It is by the band Cheap Trick.
Cheap Trick. That’s EXACTLY what the GOP is doing to America — playing a Cheap Trick on them. Cheap Truck is in fact the perfect name for the GOP. Signs come in various ways, and this most certainly could be looked at as one such sign. If THIS is any indication, it won’t be an stress-free convention for the GOP.
