Cassidy Hutchinson just threw down the gauntlet
Cassidy Hutchinson has already testified against her former bosses Donald Trump and Mark Meadows in public hearings and to grand juries behind the scenes, and she’ll surely end up testifying at Trump’s criminal trials. But while she’s long made her anti-Trump position clear, she’s now throwing down a new gauntlet.
Cassidy Hutchinson did an interview on the Jen Psaki show this week and outright declared that everyone should vote to reelect President Joe Biden in 2024. This might feel inevitable on some level, but it’s still a big deal. Hutchinson must be a conservative Republican or else she wouldn’t have been working so high up in the Trump White House to begin with. Yet now she’s outright endorsing Joe Biden, a Democrat.
If anything this serves to underscore that after Joe Biden won by seven million votes in 2020, there are probably even more people who are looking to vote for him in 2024 if that’s what it takes to finish Trump off. Mainstream Americans and reasonable Americans of all stripes hated Trump three years ago. He’s given even more of them reason to hate him now.
It’s still worth pointing out that Donald Trump, with his four criminal trials and upcoming prison sentences and visibly worsening senility, is far from a lock to be the 2024 Republican nominee. But if the Republican Party wants to go that route, it’ll just prompt the Cassidy Hutchinsons of the world to fully side with Joe Biden.
