Chuck Grassley reveals Dr. Christine Blasey Ford is holding all the cards in Brett Kavanaugh testimony

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Late last night, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley went on a hapless, barely legible, and self-pitying rant which was… oh whatever, we’re running out of words to describe all of this. Suffice it to say that, even as Grassley was tweeting away without the need for any punctuation or most vowels, he gave away something really important. Well, two things, actually.

First, yeah, there’s obviously something wrong with this guy. When a United States Senator is tweeting things like “Come to us or we to u” and ” I hope u understand” in the middle of the night, the question isn’t whether he belongs in the Senate, so much as whether he belongs in the hands of medical professionals. We’re not trying to be funny about this – it’s just that this guy is way too far gone to be playing any role in a Supreme Court nomination. But let’s get back to what Grassley gave away.

Grassley’s tweets last night all but begged Dr. Christine Blasey Ford to testify before the committee, whether it be at the Senate, or at her home, or presumably anywhere in between. He keeps setting deadlines, she keeps blowing through them, and he keeps backing down, because he knows he can’t just move on without her testimony. He’s afraid to. Grassley even went so far as to tweet a bizarre apology to Brett Kavanaugh for the delay, saying “It’s not my normal approach to b indecisive.”

Chuck Grassley is admitting that he has no idea how to handle any of this. Dr Ford is smarter and more capable than he is – and she has the element of surprise, because he doesn’t know what she’ll do next. She has the upper hand, she’s using it against him, and he’s a flustered old chauvinist man who’s feeling defeated by a strong woman. If you want proof, Grassley posted this around midnight: “With all the extensions we give Dr Ford to decide if she still wants to testify to the Senate I feel like I’m playing 2nd trombone in the judiciary orchestra and Schumer is the conductor.” That’s just pathetic.
