Kamala Harris’ endorsements are growing by the day. Georgia’s former lieutenant governor Geoff Duncan announced his endorsement of Harris. To be fair, Duncan is one of those Republicans who would likely endorse a ham sandwich over Donald Trump, but it’s still great news. Duncan did say early on that he would be voting for President Biden, but this is an endorsement. He announced both on social media and in an interview with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Politically Georgia podcast. Duncan said: “I’m committed to beating Donald Trump. The only vehicle left for me to do that with is the Democratic Party. If that requires me to vote for, speak for, or endorse Kamala Harris, then count me in.” Others who have said they won’t vote for Trump have indicated that they will vote a third party or will sit it out, but not Duncan.

Duncan believes that President Biden “did the right thing” by dropping out of the race. Duncan also lamented the problems with the GOP since the emergence of Trump. At the time that Senator Warnock beat Herschel Walker, Duncan said: “The only way to explain this is candidate quality.” It’s so rare these days to find a Republican who tells the truth, but Duncan is one of them. As if Duncan’s endorsement wasn’t enough good news, Newsweek reported that Trump’s gains among Black voters have been impacted. Of course, this news derives from polls, so take it with the proverbial grain of salt.

CNN’s poll surveyed 1,631 registered voters who had participated in an earlier poll. The most recent poll was conducted on July 22 and 23, and 78% of Black voters are now supporting Harris to Trump’s 15%. The earlier poll showed 23% of Black voters supporting Trump. It may not sound like much, but every bit counts. Of course, Trump chalks it all up to what his team calls the “Harris honeymoon,” indicating that it will end when the newness wears off. Sorry, Trump, this newness isn’t wearing off until November, so buckle up buttercup. Harris has also taken an 11-point lead over Trump with women.

This is not a “honeymoon;” it is wise people embracing reality. President Biden did an incredible job for us, especially when you consider where he started-with the mess made by Trump. Our economy continues to flourish under Biden’s policies-policies that will be carried on by Kamala Harris when she wins the presidency. The Wall Street Journal just reported that our GDP rose 2.8% while inflation continues to decline. People need to get past Harris’ skin color and gender and allow her to continue the work that President Biden began.

We should never stand in the way of progress, and we need people of every color, gender, sexual orientation, and everything else that Republicans hate to get on board. Trump is just getting started with his attacks. Keep it up and keep pushing those voters our way. As Harris said in her Milwaukee speech, Republicans want to take us backwards. We’re not going back, and Trump ain’t going back to the White House.
