Donald Trump’s failing campaign pulls the plug in key swing states

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

In addition to being sick with coronavirus, whacked out on steroid drugs, and missing most of his advisers because he gave them coronavirus, Donald Trump has problems that don’t directly relate to his illness. For instance, his campaign – which was in the process of going broke before he got sick – is now even more broke.

The Trump 2020 campaign has completely pulled the plug on TV ads in Ohio and Iowa, two states he won last time and absolutely must win this time. This is surreal, considering Ohio is tied and Biden is now slightly ahead in Iowa. Trump is also cutting back on his TV ads in Michigan and Wisconsin, two states he won last time that are now slipping away from him.

So where’s the money going instead? Best anyone can tell, nowhere. He’s still running heavy ads in Florida, Arizona, and Georgia, according to BuzzFeed. But even if Trump wins those states, it won’t be nearly enough to give him a path to victory in the Electoral College, unless he also wins the states he’s ceased advertising in.

The only reason for Trump to pull the plug like this is if there’s simply not enough money left in his coffers to fund all the TV ads he needs to be running. Various people in Trump’s orbit have been sniping at each other in the media for weeks about where the campaign’s money went. And now with most of Trump’s top people laid up with coronavirus, no one seems to be running the campaign at all.
