Did Donald Trump really just try to call for a new election?
Less than a week into his impeachment, Donald Trump is already saying such unhinged and incoherent things – even by his standards – we’re no longer sure what he’s even talking about half the time. For instance the other day he declared that Nancy Pelosi is “no longer the Speaker of the House” and it left everyone wondering if perhaps he thought he’d actually just fired her (hint: she’s still there).
This evening Donald Trump went on Twitter and posted a quote that House Republican stooge Jeff Van Drew had given on Fox News. The whole thing was a long rant against impeachment, followed by this: “Let the people vote, we are going to have an Election very shortly.” You see the problem here, right?
We’re pretty sure that Van Drew, despite not being the brightest bulb in the box, is simply exaggerating about how close we are to the 2020 election. But Donald Trump is now so far gone, when he’s tweeting a quote along the lines of “we are going to have an Election very shortly,” you have to wonder if he thinks he’s actually calling for a new snap election. After all, his evil twin skippy, Boris Johnson, just tried to call for a new election. Perhaps Trump truly doesn’t understand that you can only try that in some countries, and this isn’t one of them.
Sure, we’re being a little bit sarcastic here. But then again, not really. This is a guy who seems to think he fired Nancy Pelosi earlier this week, and who keeps asking the media to investigate Mike pence. At some point you have to wonder if Donald Trump really did just call for a new election. This guy is more divorced from reality than ever.
