No one wants to publish Donald Trump Jr’s book because he’s going to prison
Over the weekend, Palmer Report pointed to signs that Donald Trump Jr is completely oblivious to what’s about to happen to him. Even as his wife is trying to hurry up and divorce him before he’s arrested and his assets are seized, and Robert Mueller is clearly moving in on him, Junior seems to think he’s in the clear. He’s running around buying property. He’s preparing to publish a book. The trouble: publishers live in the real world, and they know where he’s headed, so they’re turning him away.
In a move that everyone saw coming but him, major book publishers are rejecting Donald Trump Jr’s book because he’s too much of a liability as an author. These rejections are reportedly leaving Junior “flabbergasted” because he’s somehow convinced himself that his various crimes aren’t crimes. Nevermind that his own emails reveal that he met with Russian government representatives with the intention of obtaining dirt about Hillary Clinton, which constitutes probably five different felonies in and of itself.
The trouble seems to be that Junior has never faced consequences in his life, and he doesn’t understand that he’s going to face them now. Major book publishers don’t want the liability of publishing a book whose author is too busy with his criminal trial to be in position to go on a book tour.
What’s remarkable here is that Donald Trump Jr is spending his time writing a book instead of working on his legal defense. He’s going to be indicted and arrested on too many felony counts to list. If he chooses to fight the charges at trial, he’ll need to be prepared for the fight of his life – and instead he’s screwing around writing some fantasy book about how he and his father are victims. Even if Trump Sr tries to pardon him, there’s a good chance the courts will strike it down as an illegal attempt at obstructing justice.
